فُصلت بسبب كلمة.. تعويض بـ 5 ملايين دولار لمضيفة طيران

قضت هيئة المحلفين في ولاية تكساس بالولايات المتحدة الأمريكية بمنح شارلين “مضيفة طيران” تعويضاً مالياً قدره 5 ملايين دولار.

وقالت شارلين لـ”فوكس نيوز” تعليقا على الحكم: “إنه يوم انتصار لـحرية التعبير والمعتقدات الدينية. يجب أن يكون هناك صوت للمضيفات ولا ينبغي على أحد أن ينتقم منهن بسبب انخراطهن في جدل مع نقابتهن”.

وفي عام 2017، كتبت مضيفة الطيران الأمريكية، شارلين كارتر، منشورات على شبكات التواصل عبرت فيه عن موقفها إزاء قضية الإجهاض، التي تثير الجدل في الولايات المتحدة. وفقا لسكاي نيوز.

وما كان من شركة الطيران “ساوث ويست”، ذات الأسعار المخفضة، إلا أن فصلت المضيفة من عملها.

لكن شارلين لم تقف مكتوفة الأيدي إزاء قطع رزقها، كما تقول، ورفعت قضية تعويض على الشركة.

وأفادت شبكة “فوكس نيوز” الأمريكية بأن هيئة محلفين في ولاية تكساس قضت بمنح شارلين تعويضا ماليا قدره 5 ملايين دولار.

ولم تكن مضيفة الطيران على خلاف مع الشركة فحسب، إذ إن جذر الخلاف يعود إلى موقفها إزاء رئيس نقابتها أيضا، لذلك شمل التعويض الشركة والنقابة.

وانتقدت المضيفة السابقة حضور أعضاء من النقابة وخاصة رئيسها لمسيرة مؤيدة للإجهاض في واشنطن عام 2017.

ولاحقا، استدعت الشركة الموظفة بشأن منشوراتها على “فيسبوك”، حيث عرضت أمامها لقطات من المنشورات التي كتبتها بشأن رفضها للإجهاض، وطرحت عليها أسئلة من قبيل: لماذا نشرت هذا الكلام.

وقالت الشركة إن تعليقات الموظفة “ضايقت” مسؤولي النقابة، وبعد أسبوع فصلتها من العمل.

The former host was critical of union members attending a pro-choice rally in Washington in 2017.

Later, the company summoned the employee about her Facebook posts, where she showed her screenshots of the posts she had written about her refusal to have an abortion, and asked her questions such as: Why did you post this.

The company said the employee’s comments “harassed” union officials, and after a week fired her.
